Behavior
In third grade students will be expected to be respectful and responsible 21st century learners. They will be expected to take initiative in their own learning and be team players in group work. Our behavior systems encourage independence and positive behavior.
The behavior system in third grade allows students to earn points. As long as students are respectful and responsible, they will earn their points! If students make poor choices, they will be deducted points. Every student starts each day with 3 points. You have the opportunity to earn more with positive choices. Students will be able trade in points for rewards.

Typical Day
Arrival : As the students arrive they will be meeting in the gym to "Read Around the World". They will be reading for 10-15 minutes along with the rest of the school to help them earn AR points. The students will need to have a library book or book from home each day in their book bag.
Design Time: Each week the students will get integrated science and social studies time. This time will also be used to work on design challenges and integrated projects.
Integration Stations: The students will have integration stations such as physical education, research lab, performing arts, and technology integration. Students should wear sneakers/tennis shoes each day.
Lunch and Recess: Lunch and recess will be 30 minutes each day.
Blended Learning Math Block: The students will have math for 90 minutes each day. This will include blended learning, review of concepts taught, math fluency practice, and concept development and application.
Blended Learning Language Arts Block: The students will also have language arts for 90 minutes each day. This will include a short whole group warm-up and lesson and centers including writing, guided reading, word work, and reading fluency. There may also be some mini-lessons to introduce new concepts.
